MedLife began as a small medical office led by Dr. Miheala Marcu. With drive, a focus on quality and the support of investors such as IFC and its lenders, the Marcu family built one of the two largest medical businesses in Romania, a true national champion.

V4C acquired a significant minority stake in 2009, just at the point that the company was launching a significant expansion, opening new facilities in Bucharest and making acquisitions in other parts of the country. V4C worked with management to realise these growth plans and consolidate the first steps of an acquisition program that continues today.

V4C exited the investment in 2016, selling its stake through an IPO of the company on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The exit was the first in Romania by private equity through an IPO and was one of the landmark capital markets transactions of the period. MedLife continues to lead private healthcare provision in Romania and remains a listed company with the Marcu family as the largest shareholders.
